Xcel Energy’s Day of Service Supports Nearly 40 Valuable Organizations in Colorado

Xcel Energy is gearing up for its Day of Service, featuring nearly 40 volunteer projects that support various community organizations. In 2025, this initiative had a significant economic impact of over $321,000.

One notable project involves the Colorado Pet Pantry, which offers food assistance to help families keep their pets during tough financial times. Volunteers play a crucial role in sorting and packaging pet food, facilitating the distribution of meals to those in need. In 2025 alone, the Pantry provided an impressive 7.5 million meals to pets, helping rescue 125,000 animals from potential surrender due to financial hardships.

Ragini Menon, a Senior Consultant at Xcel Energy and the project lead for the Pantry, emphasizes the importance of community involvement, especially for those who share a passion for animal welfare. As a pet owner and foster caregiver, she understands the emotional toll of having to give up pets due to financial struggles.

Xcel Energy’s Day of Service is scheduled for September 10-12, 2026, with various projects available across Colorado. Interested volunteers can register through Xcel Energy’s website.
