ORLANDO, Fla. — Labor Day weekend travel is in full swing, with Orlando expected to be a top destination. The travel period runs from Thursday, September 3, through Tuesday, September 8, according to Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Expected Passenger Volume
MCO anticipates 841,577 passengers will travel in and out during the holiday weekend, with Monday, September 7, expected to be the busiest day, hosting 155,776 passengers.
Travel Trends
Despite the large numbers, the travel volume is expected to be lower than last year, with projections indicating 420,493 departures this year compared to 450,060 in 2025. Popular destinations for air travel include Seattle, Boston, Denver, and New York City.
Busiest Driving Times
For those traveling by car, AAA predicts that Friday will be the busiest travel day. Expect heavy congestion during these times:
- Friday: Noon to 8 PM
- Saturday: 1 PM to 5 PM
- Monday: 2 PM to 5 PM
