LANSING, Mich. (News 10) – As travelers prepare for the busy Labor Day holiday weekend, AAA anticipates this will be one of the busiest travel weekends on record.
MDOT Construction Projects Paused
Aaron Jenkins from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced that major roadway construction will be paused starting Friday at 3 PM to facilitate smoother travel. He notes that while major projects will halt, some traffic configurations and equipment will still be present.
Safety Tips:
- Leave early and pack an emergency kit with water, snacks, and blankets.
- MDOT’s courtesy patrols will be active to assist stranded motorists.
Increased State Police Patrols
Lt. DuWayne Robinson of the Michigan State Police has stated that they will perform dedicated patrols over the holiday weekend, focusing on distracted and impaired driving.
