Heatwave Strikes Wake County, Leaving Thousands Without Power
WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) – Central North Carolina is grappling with record temperatures and dangerous heat, exacerbating the situation for thousands in Wake County who are currently without electricity.
According to Duke Energy, the outage began around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, impacting approximately 35,000 customers. Duke Energy’s spokesperson, Jeff Brooks, indicated that the cause of the outage is damage to several major power lines, though the specific locations of the damage have not yet been identified.
As of 4:23 p.m., the number of customers without power has decreased to fewer than 5,000.
