MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Good news for those planning a road trip this Labor Day weekend: road construction will not hinder your travels.
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced a pause on all temporary lane closures on interstate routes starting Friday, September 4 at noon and lasting until Monday, September 7 at 11:59 p.m. This initiative aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize congestion, allowing travelers to reach their destinations with less stress.
“Safety is our top priority as families and friends travel across Alabama for Labor Day weekend,” stated Dalton Middleton, Drive Safe Alabama Coordinator. He highlighted that in 2024, nine fatalities occurred in traffic crashes during this holiday in Alabama. By suspending lane closures, ALDOT hopes to keep traffic moving and travelers safe.
