A Day’s Meals for Someone Raised on the Mediterranean Diet

Suzy Karadsheh from Port Said, Egypt, fondly recalls visits to the local market with her father for fresh produce, influenced by the Mediterranean cuisine surrounding her. Now a busy mom in Atlanta and founder of The Mediterranean Dish, she emphasizes the Mediterranean diet as a joyful and non-restrictive approach to eating—focusing on seasonal vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats.

### Here’s a Typical Day of Meals:

#### Breakfast:
Karadsheh starts her day with a savory breakfast, often featuring roasted sweet potatoes and fried eggs paired with chopped cucumbers and tomatoes, plus feta cheese.

#### Lunch:
Lunch consists of a Mediterranean grain bowl using leftovers or pre-cooked grains such as freekeh or farro, often accompanied by hummus and bread.

#### Dinner:
For dinner, she prefers grilled chicken or fish, often with a Greek salad. A favorite recipe includes lemon-garlic cod, seasoned and baked, or chicken marinated with diverse Mediterranean flavors.

Karadsheh’s cooking reflects her heritage, prioritizing health, flavor, and efficiency for family meals.
