Chobani is set to acquire the Allentown, PA plant from Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) for about $125 million and will invest $1.2 billion to convert it into a dairy processing facility. This marks a significant expansion of their partnership with KDP, which includes repurchasing KDP’s equity stake in Chobani and enhancing their distribution collaboration.
The facility, opened by KDP in 2021, is expected to generate 900 new jobs over the next five years and will feature up to 10 production lines, producing various food products beyond yogurt. Moreover, it aims to process over three billion pounds of milk annually, providing regional dairy farmers with a new outlet.
Chobani’s investment in Allentown emphasizes its commitment to growth, as part of a broader strategy involving over $4 billion in capital projects across multiple states. Production at the Allentown plant is anticipated to start in 2027.
