Upcoming Services for Pet Blessings
All Creatures Great and Small: A Service of Blessing for Our Pets
Date: Saturday, 19 September
Time: 2 PM
Location: Salisbury Cathedral
This informal afternoon service will bless and give thanks for all creatures, celebrating the joy and companionship they bring. It’s perfect for families—feel free to bring along your pets or a photograph of your favorite animal!
The service will occur at the west end of the Cathedral, with large doors opening onto the lawn for larger animals. Participants can choose to join inside or gather outside with their pets. The homily will be delivered by Revd Sophie Ferguson, Assistant Curate, with Revd Ross Meikle, Missioner for Young People, leading the service.
Over the past two years, more than 250 people have attended, along with a variety of pets including dogs, guinea pigs, and even a tortoise!
Revd Ross Meikle reflects, “The pets and animals in our lives teach us so much about how to live well… This service is an opportunity to remember, celebrate, and give thanks for the pets in our lives.”
