Tropical Development Update
Current Situation
Two areas of interest are being monitored for potential tropical development, each with a medium chance of formation. One of these has been designated as Invest 95L, which poses no threat to the U.S.
Invest 95L details:
- Location: A weak low-pressure area a few hundred miles east-southeast of Bermuda.
- Development Odds: As of Sunday, there is a 50% chance of development over the next two days and a 50% chance over the next week.
- Movement: Currently drifting west-southwest, but expected to curve north early next week.
Regardless of any potential development, this area poses no direct threat to Florida.

Central Atlantic:
- A tropical wave will emerge off the west coast of Africa and is expected to reach the Atlantic. This area has a 50% chance of development over the next seven days.

Northeastern Atlantic:
- A non-tropical low-pressure area is no longer expected to develop.
Important Notes
- The term “invest” is shorthand for “area of investigation,” allowing the National Hurricane Center to monitor and gather more information on a system.
- If a named storm develops, it will be called Dolly.
- The peak of the hurricane season is around September 10.
