Investment Interest in Bangladesh
Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir announced significant interest from businesses in India and the U.S. for investing in Bangladesh, aiming to enhance the country’s investment climate. This development follows a 14-member delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry visiting Bangladesh to explore bilateral trade opportunities from August 17 to 19.

Trade Statistics: India is Bangladesh’s second-largest trade partner after China, with bilateral trade amounting to $11.35 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26.
Trade Deficit Concerns
Muktadir also addressed Bangladesh’s trade deficit, which exceeds $27 billion, stressing the importance of expanding trade volumes to align with the country’s economic size.
