Juno Temple has seamlessly navigated the worlds of both American and European football. She garnered an Emmy nomination for her role as the spirited Keeley Jones on Apple TV+’s acclaimed series Ted Lasso, where her character evolved from a model and girlfriend to a savvy PR and marketing expert.
While the much-loved series wrapped up in 2023 (though there might be updates on the horizon!), Temple has kept herself busy. She recently starred in a season-long role on FX’s Fargo, which earned her another Emmy nomination.
Now, Temple is back on television in a football-themed role that pairs her with Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett for a new Super Bowl advertisement highlighting Oikos high-protein yogurt. Reflecting on how American football contrasts with her experiences in England, she described Super Bowl Sunday festivities as being akin to “Christmas.”
In the interview ahead, the talented 35-year-old shares her thoughts on nutrition, American football, and addresses the pressing question of a potential Ted Lasso spin-off. Note: This interview has been edited for brevity and clarity.

The Healthy by Reader’s Digest: Juno, we were thrilled to discover that some Oikos yogurt contains about 20 grams of protein per serving! How does nutrition fit into your life? How significant is it for you?
Juno Temple: Nutrition is, honestly, a lifeline. It’s what sustains both my body and mind. My thoughts race at a demanding pace, and I want to keep up with them; sometimes, I even wish for them to slow down! Nutrition fuels my capacity to engage with others throughout the day, whether at work or with loved ones who may be far away. To be present, I believe it’s essential to nourish oneself, and finding enjoyable ways to do that is a vital balance. When fuel becomes purely about obligation, it breeds resentment, and when it’s only about pleasure, it can lead to self-reproach.
Finding this balance can be challenging. Most people today probably have mixed reactions to various foods that can make them feel either good or not so great. Every body responds differently, so it’s about discovering what energizes you while also allowing you to feel comfortable in your own skin—something that can be tough in today’s society.

The Healthy: Absolutely! The world of professional sports is a great example of how food fuels energy. Have you noticed any differences in how Americans experience football compared to your experiences in the U.K. or Europe?
Juno Temple: The Super Bowl feels uniquely special. It’s an occasion to gather family and friends, reminiscent of Christmas, where everyone comes together to enjoy the game and the halftime show. It’s a celebration! While the World Cup embodies something similar back in the U.K. and during events like the European Cup or Premier League matches, people don’t typically gather in the same family-oriented way for those games. My brothers are complete football fanatics, yet even they don’t usually watch together with me. It seems English football has no exact equivalent to the Super Bowl, but it’s certainly revered like a religion in the U.K.
The Healthy: Ted Lasso has maintained a devoted fan base, so we have to ask: Is there any news regarding a spin-off?
Juno Temple: People have indeed been asking, which is wonderful—it’s a testament to the show’s impact! I’ve loved every moment of the past three seasons and feel immense gratitude for being part of such an incredible team. While I don’t have any specifics, I’ve heard whispers of a potential season four. I’d be beyond lucky if that came to fruition.
If we were to revisit Ted Lasso, I can definitely see Keeley Jones enjoying Oikos Triple Zero yogurt!
The Healthy: That sounds fantastic! Share with us a self-care habit you never skip.
Juno Temple: Moisturizing is a non-negotiable for me. I dedicate a solid 15 to 20 minutes to truly embrace the process. I love mixing oils and creams for my body and have specially formulated products for my curly hair. I tend to prefer natural products; I genuinely believe they are better absorbed by the skin. This little ritual, reminiscent of my grandmother taking her time in front of the vanity, holds a special place in my heart. Watching her, I learned the importance of dedicating time to oneself, and I cherish those moments at the end of my day.
