Tropical Depression Update: Potential Formation This Weekend

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring a tropical wave in the Atlantic known as Invest 94-L. As of Friday, the chances of it developing into a cyclone have decreased, but it may still form into a tropical depression over the weekend.

Current Status of Invest 94-L

  • Location: Over the Central Tropical Atlantic, more than 1,000 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands.
  • Weather Activity: Producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
  • Development Potential: Environmental conditions are favorable for some development in the next few days; however, strong upper-level winds next week are expected to reduce its chances.

  • Through 48 hours: 30%
  • Through 7 days: 30%
