Families take advantage of complimentary summer bus transportation for children.

Bus usage has seen a notable decline since the Covid-19 pandemic. However, by March 2025, local bus journeys in England outside of London rose to approximately 1.9 billion, reaching about 93% of pre-pandemic levels.

The Campaign for Better Transport highlights ongoing challenges in rural areas, where there are still fewer bus routes. They advocate for the restoration of lost services.

Marrianne Garbutt, managing director of Brylaine, emphasized the importance of public transport in rural counties, especially for those traveling long distances. Her company is also offering free, unaccompanied travel for young people aged 12 to 15 who can present proof of age. Garbutt noted, “Anything we can do to give teenagers independence in a rural county, we’re going to do it,” highlighting the benefits of social opportunities and cost savings for young people.

Other participating companies in the Lincolnshire area include Stagecoach and PC Coaches of Lincoln.
