Updated Regulations for Pet Travel Between the UK and France Starting April 22

From 22 April 2026, UK pet owners will be unable to use EU pet passports unless their main residence is in the EU. As a result, many will have to obtain a new Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for each trip to France, which could cost over £100. This change, which affects current travel regulations, aims to ensure that EU pet passports are only used by residents within the EU. UK officials are warning that using an EU passport could result in being denied boarding or entry.
