Claire Holland, the clinic’s senior practice director, explains that these signs are often mistaken for excitement or nerves, but they may indicate that a dog is suffering from motion sickness.
If not managed, travel sickness can worsen over time, leading some dogs to become increasingly reluctant to travel. While it’s especially common in younger dogs, it can affect pets of any age.
To help prevent motion sickness, the clinic recommends starting with short journeys, ensuring good ventilation, avoiding large meals before travel, and using familiar bedding or toys.
