New Medical Practice Opening in Canton
Canton, NY — A physician-owned medical practice, North Core Medical, is set to enhance healthcare accessibility in the North Country, breaking ground on a new clinic on State Highway 310. Dr. Thushan Pathmalingam and Dr. Thivisa Rajagopal aim to provide personalized, patient-centered care through a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model, expected to open in early 2027.
Dr. Pathmalingam mentioned, “We believe the North Country deserves access to exceptional primary care close to home.” The clinic, a $2 million investment, is designed to foster strong physician-patient relationships and prioritize patient well-being.
What is Direct Primary Care?
In contrast to traditional practices, DPC operates on a monthly membership basis, allowing for same-day and next-day appointments, and reduced administrative hurdles. Initially, the clinic will support about 250 patients per physician, ensuring access and personalized care.
Facility Overview
The planned 8,400-square-foot facility will feature:
- 10 examination rooms
- Modern technology
- Spacious waiting areas
- Patient education and wellness spaces
Comprehensive services will include preventive care, chronic disease management, and telehealth visits for non-DPC members.
Dr. Rajagopal stated, “We wanted to build a practice where physicians have the time to listen and develop meaningful relationships with patients.”
