Patrick Morrisey (R-W.Va.) recently unveiled a significant $14 million investment aimed at enhancing rural healthcare in West Virginia through advanced virtual technology and remote patient monitoring. This funding, part of the state’s Rural Health Transformation Program, intends to improve early detection of health issues, enhance chronic condition management, and widen healthcare access in rural areas.
Key Components of the Investment
Inpatient Monitoring ($4.9 Million)
- Enables hospitals to implement advanced monitoring technology for closer tracking of patients and swift responses to any changes in their condition.
At-Home Outpatient Monitoring ($9.1 Million)
- Supports individuals with chronic conditions by using connected devices that share real-time health data with healthcare providers, enhancing care between visits.
Secretary of Health Arvin Singh emphasized that this initiative will provide healthcare providers with valuable tools to support long-term health and improve overall access to care.
Application Process
Eligible hospitals and healthcare providers can apply for funding through the state’s procurement and grants management system at wvOASIS.gov.
