The Albany Housing Authority has announced a significant $1.6 million federal investment aimed at providing greater stability for public housing residents through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This grant is part of the Fiscal Year 2025 Jobs Plus program, which seeks to support public housing residents in improving their employment, earnings, and overall financial independence.

Juantisa Howard, a local resident, expressed the importance of having a stable home for her children, stating, “When I think of home, I think of family, love.” The investment will build on programs already offered by the Albany Housing Authority, helping residents like Howard transition from public housing to home ownership.

The Jobs Plus program focuses on job placement, workforce development, education, and career counseling.
