Honestly, I don’t consider myself very daring when it comes to denim trends. For now, most of the jeans in my wardrobe are either straight-leg or close to that style. However, if there’s a brand capable of pushing me out of my comfort zone, it’s Agolde.
Agolde has built a reputation for producing distinctive jeans that capture attention and set new trends in denim. Their Vana Fold Jeans, Elson Jeans, and Criss Cross Jeans laid the groundwork for their latest innovation: the Peplum Jeans. Initially, I was unsure about this style, especially because jeans that combine with a skirt are not my usual go-to, but I trust Agolde to create something fashionable. So, I thought, why not give it a shot? Read on for my honest review, a look at how the Agolde Peplum Jeans fit, and where you can buy them (but act fast; they’re selling quickly).
My Review
These jeans are crafted from lightweight 100% cotton and boast a 31″ inseam with a high 12.5″ rise. They have a tailored baggy fit, and for context, I’m wearing a size 26 and would recommend sticking to your usual size. As of now, they’re only available in one wash (a classic medium blue), but considering their popularity, I wouldn’t be surprised if Agolde adds more options soon—several sizes have already sold out since their release earlier this month. At 5’4″, I typically avoid jeans with longer inseams, but these surprisingly suited my height. I initially paired them with very low kitten heels, and they ended up being the perfect length! They felt soft and comfortable right from the first wear. Now, let’s discuss that peplum skirt detail.
The skirt merges into the jeans as a sculptural peplum that starts just below the belt loops, with a waistband that carries a Western vibe, giving it a modern touch. This eye-catching style isn’t for the faint-hearted and is sure to draw attention, but much to my surprise, I found them much easier to wear than I had anticipated. The fit is laid-back and trendy; they pair best with simple, sleek pieces that don’t overpower the jeans. I styled them with an Agolde bodysuit and a denim bomber jacket.
It’s interesting how a seemingly unconventional pair of jeans can feel more versatile than expected. Though I never thought I’d embrace the trend of layering dresses over jeans, trying out this two-in-one design gave me a new appreciation for it. It injects an element of creativity into my outfits that straight-leg jeans simply don’t provide.
