Summit Hotels & Resorts Introduces Pet-Friendly Accommodation
Siliguri, July 24, 2026: As Indian travellers increasingly opt to vacation with their pets, hospitality operators are evolving to meet this new demand. In response, Summit Hotels & Resorts has rolled out pet-friendly accommodations at select properties in Eastern and Northeast India.
This initiative aligns with a broader trend towards personalized, experience-driven travel, where pets are considered essential members of family outings. There has been a notable rise in inquiries for pet-friendly lodging, particularly within nature and hill destinations.
Initially, Summit will offer specific pet-friendly room categories at properties in Gangtok, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kaziranga, and Tashigang. Access will be limited to designated formats such as cottages, villas, premium rooms, and select ground-floor accommodations.
Sumit Mitruka, CEO of Summit Hotels & Resorts, stated, “We’re witnessing a clear shift in travel patterns, with guests wanting their pets included in the holiday experience. Hill and nature-oriented destinations resonate well with this trend, as travelers seek relaxed, family-friendly experiences. The hospitality sector is becoming more personalized, emphasizing the importance of adapting to changing guest preferences.”
This initiative is a part of Summit’s larger goal to enhance experience-led offerings across its leisure network. A nominal fee structure for pet stays is being finalized for the designated room categories.
