Investment Surge in Artificial Intelligence in Berlin
In the first half of 2026, companies significantly increased their investments in artificial intelligence in Berlin, with total expenditures surpassing EUR 1.4 billion, more than double that of the previous six months. Notable contributors, including Google, ASML, and Mercedes, highlight the city’s growing importance in this sector.
Berlin Partner, a regional investment promotion agency, reported 43 new business expansion projects, showcasing participation not only from German firms but also international companies from the US, China, and Turkey. This influx of investment is projected to generate nearly 3,000 new jobs.
In addition to established firms, Berlin saw the emergence of 430 new startups, marking a 20% increase from late 2025. With the startup ecosystem valued at approximately EUR 169 billion, it includes around 1,600 venture-capital-supported companies and 32 unicorns, each valued at over USD 1 billion, affirming Berlin’s status as Germany’s leading startup hub.
