Israel’s Recent Efforts in Marine Energy Technologies and Solutions

The Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) recently introduced a new fund aimed at developing marine-focused energy solutions, allocating an initial investment of NIS 6 million. This initiative, named “Blue-Tech Energies,” is executed in collaboration with the Energy and Infrastructure Ministry, with the objective of fostering a new generation of Israeli innovations in renewable energy for marine environments.

Key details include:

  • Investment Focus: Projects will center on offshore renewable energy generation and AI-driven marine energy management systems.
  • Funding Breakdown: The fund consists of NIS 6 million, with NIS 3 million sourced from the Energy Ministry’s Israel Citizens Fund.
  • Goals: The initiative aims to harness Israel’s unique strengths in scientific research and technology to create sustainable marine energy solutions, while also enhancing industry-academia collaboration.

Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen emphasized the importance of developing green energy solutions to bolster Israel’s energy security. The program is open to companies and research centers working on relevant technologies, encouraging innovation and collaboration across sectors.
