Tropical Weather Update
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has increased the chances of development for Invest 91L to 50% over the next seven days. This system is currently a broad area of low pressure located in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

Current Conditions
According to the NHC:
- Winds are light.
- Shower and thunderstorm activity is disorganized.
- Gradual development is possible as it moves slowly northward or north-northwest.
If this system becomes a tropical storm, it will be named “Bertha.”

Possible Impacts
Increased wind shear presents a narrow window for strengthening. Heavy rains of nearly 7 inches are anticipated along the Florida Gulf Coast, southern Alabama, and southwestern Georgia, possibly affecting beach plans this week.

Acadiana is not in the threat zone; however, expect hot temperatures and dry air throughout the week. A slight increase in tropical moisture and minimal rain chances are expected, with rainfall amounts remaining below one inch.
