Youth Summer Ride teaches students how to navigate public transportation.

The City of La Crosse Municipal Transit and the School District of La Crosse are launching the first-ever Youth Summer Ride, aimed at helping students navigate the city using public transit. Participants will visit various locations, including the public library, City Hall, and Logan Middle School, to gain familiarity with the transit system.

Community Impact Coordinator Andy Kiel emphasizes that the initiative encourages students to become comfortable with public transport, aiding their independence as they learn to travel across the city. This program also prepares them for future employment opportunities by teaching them how to access different parts of town.

Currently, around 65 students are involved in the ride, and organizers aspire to make this an annual event, promoting awareness of alternative travel options for youth.
