Baker Goha Dosmuratova draws inspiration from her travels across Central Asia to Southeastern Europe, leading her to create a diverse array of homemade recipes. After closing her bakery in Romania and relocating to Texas in 2024, she opened a new establishment in Bellaire, where she specializes in custom cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.
“I’m a sweet tooth person,” she expresses, recounting how her passion for desserts evolved when her travel experiences didn’t always yield her favorite flavors. This motivated her to perfect her own recipes.
The Backstory
Dosmuratova’s journey into baking began as a stay-at-home mom, initially driven by boredom. She started making cakes for her friends’ celebrations, which eventually blossomed into a full-time endeavor. In 2020, she opened her first bakery in Romania despite concerns about launching during a global pandemic. Her determination paid off with considerable success.
Crafting Custom Creations
At her bakery, Dosmuratova enjoys the challenge of creating custom cakes based on her customers’ imaginative ideas. This process requires meticulous planning, sketching, and sculpting, which she finds meditative. Since moving to Houston, she adapted to regional tastes, famously learning how to bake pies.
A notable request came from a customer who needed peach cupcakes for a peach-themed baby shower for 200 people. It took her several days to perfect the recipe using real peaches, but once she did, it became a personal favorite.

For aspiring female bakers, Dosmuratova offers practical advice: don’t be overwhelmed by the initial challenges of paperwork and health inspections, as it becomes easier over time. She also emphasizes the importance of experimentation in baking.
“Always experiment,” she advises. “If you don’t like the recipe, add something else … don’t be afraid of wasting products, because without the waste, you won’t get the best recipe ever.”
