Vietnamese technology investment firm G-Group has recently secured investment certification for its ambitious G-Campus project, an AI data center campus in Hoa Lac, Hanoi, with an investment of 7,600 billion VND (approximately US$290 million). At the same event, G-Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hanoi People’s Committee and OTECH, an Omani ICT specialist, to collaborate in the investment and development of AI data centers in Vietnam.
G-Campus will span over 38,000 square meters within the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park and will be a comprehensive digital infrastructure complex divided into four zones. The first two zones will focus on R&D of advanced technologies including AI, high-performance computing (HPC), and cybersecurity. The remaining zones will feature a proposed Tier III certified data center, dedicated to AI and HPC, with an initial capacity of 20MW, expandable to 30MW.
Under the agreement, the Hanoi People’s Committee will provide ecosystem connections, necessary infrastructure, and regulatory compliance, while OTECH will leverage its expertise in national-scale data center operations. G-Group will manage the investment and commercialization strategies in Vietnam.
Phung Anh Tu, Chairman of G-Group, emphasized that G-Campus represents a long-term commitment to supporting Hanoi’s transition into the AI era. He expressed that the project aims not only to create a large data center but to establish a secure and open platform for technology development and digital transformation, addressing future national competitiveness.
This initiative supports Hanoi’s goal of achieving an average of 4 IoT connections per citizen by 2030 and the development of a digital government model. The city is estimated to need at least two mega data centers and additional edge data centers to manage the growing data volume effectively.
