Macron and Modi Seek Support from Tech Leaders in AI Infrastructure Competition

Countries are racing to advance in AI, with French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi forming personal connections with tech leaders to secure investments and infrastructure.

Macron has been actively courting executives, notably hosting AI leaders during the G7 summit and persuading SoftBank’s CEO Masayoshi Son to invest heavily in AI data centers in France. A significant commitment is part of a €75 billion program to enhance data center capacity.

Modi, on the other hand, also met with major tech figures, including Amazon’s Andy Jassy, highlighting India’s major AI investment opportunities. Modi has emphasized the need for India to see AI as a fortune rather than a threat, pushing for advancements in AI infrastructure and local semiconductor production. Notably, partnerships with firms like Microsoft and Google are set to boost India’s AI landscape.

Both countries are keenly aware that developing their own AI ecosystems is essential to compete globally, aiming to attract tech giants through investment incentives and infrastructure development.
