Telia Lietuva’s 2026 Investment in Mobile Network Expansion
Overview:
In 2026, Telia Lietuva will invest EUR 7.1 million to enhance its mobile network. The funding aims to:
- Construct 50 new base stations.
- Modernize 300 existing sites.
- Upgrade around 130 locations with new radio equipment.
Additionally, Telia will deploy the newly acquired 1,500 MHz spectrum to increase 5G network capacity.
Growing Mobile Data Traffic:
Lithuania experiences approximately a 25% annual growth in mobile data traffic, driven by:
- High-definition video streaming.
- Cloud services.
- AI applications.
- A rise in smart device connectivity.
Continuous investment is vital due to this increasing demand.

Giedrė Kaminskaitė-Salters, CEO of Telia Lietuva, emphasized that the investment ensures the network remains robust over the next five years, reinforcing the company’s commitment to leading in network infrastructure.
Investment Strategy:
The majority of the investment will be focused in areas with the highest data traffic, including:
- Major cities and resorts.
- Coastal areas and parks.
- High-traffic public locations.
Simultaneously, efforts will extend geographical coverage to improve connectivity in historically underserved areas, noted as “white areas.”
Future Developments:
By 2027, Telia also plans to install 30 new base stations on towers funded by the state. These efforts aim to bolster coverage in previously limited connectivity zones.
Recent Acquisitions:
In June 2026, Telia acquired a 1,500 MHz spectrum for EUR 10 million, making it the largest investor in this band in Lithuania. Additionally, the company renewed its license for the 2,100 MHz spectrum band for 16 more years, committing an extra EUR 2 million.
Current Network Status:
Telia operates Lithuania’s largest 5G network, with 1,830 base stations and 99.7% coverage across the country.
