Bagels & Co. Returns to Kosher Certification
Bagels & Co. has regained its kosher certification from the Vaad Harabonim of Queens (VHQ) as of June 28, 2026. The dairy bagel shop, located on Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows, had previously lost its certification due to an unresolved kashrus issue.
What Happened?
Earlier this month, Bagels & Co. was temporarily stripped of its VHQ certification due to a serious violation, which was later identified as problems related to unmonitored lettuce and a dispute with the ownership. Although the exact details weren’t disclosed initially, the establishment was advised to operate as non-kosher during this period.
Now, the Vaad has confirmed that all issues have been resolved, allowing Bagels & Co. to operate under its certification again.
A Fresh Meadows Fixture
Serving the Fresh Meadows kosher community since 1990, Bagels & Co. is known for its bagels, bialys, and a comprehensive dairy menu, which includes omelets, sandwiches, paninis, soups, and pizza. Situated on one of Queens’ busiest kosher corridors, it remains a vital stop for residents in Fresh Meadows and Jamaica Estates.
The brief hiatus from certification has not altered its longstanding reputation. With supervision reinstated, Bagels & Co. can continue to serve the cholov yisroel, yoshon dairy dishes that patrons have enjoyed for over three decades.
