Margez Grill House, a distinct kosher Israeli steakhouse located on Avenue M in Midwood, has officially closed its doors, marking the end of its journey as a unique dining option in the area.
What Margez Was
Opened in May 2022, Margez offered a grill-focused menu enriched with Israeli and Mediterranean flavors. Guests enjoyed flame-grilled meats, including signature items like skewers, lamb chops, and ribeye, alongside sharable appetizers and a popular burger selection. The restaurant’s relaxed yet polished ambiance catered to family dinners and group outings alike.
It stood out as one of the few establishments on Avenue M emphasizing a sit-down steakhouse experience infused with Mediterranean identity, setting it apart from other traditional kosher offerings in the vicinity.

A Short Run on Avenue M
Margez had a brief existence of just under three years in the competitive Midwood kosher scene. The reasons behind its closure have not been publicly shared yet. Avenue M is a bustling route for the local Orthodox community, and managing a full-service steakhouse in this area entails considerable operating costs. Currently, there are no announcements for a successor to take over the space left by Margez.
We extend our best wishes to the Margez team as they embark on their next endeavors.
Location:
Margez Grill House was situated at 1018 Avenue M, Brooklyn, NY 11230. It is now permanently closed and operated under Rabbi Yisrael P. Gornish’s supervision.
