In an ongoing effort to enhance communication and accessibility, Maui County has revealed its newly revamped website. This upgrade, achieved through a collaboration with the technology provider CivicPlus, aims to improve residents’ experiences by offering modern features and streamlined navigation.

The redesign of the website, accessible at www.mauicounty.gov, marks the first significant update in over a decade. According to Laksmi Abraham, Director of Communications and Government Affairs, the project took about a year to finalize. “Modernizing our digital platforms is essential to our goal of enhancing our communication tools across the County and improving the way we share information and connect with our community,” she commented.
Mayor Richard Bissen emphasized that the primary objective of this redesign is to enhance public access to County services. “Our intention behind the website overhaul was to better represent our diverse community and make it easier for residents to access essential County services and resources,” he stated.
CivicPlus, a provider serving over 7,500 local governmental clients, created a mobile-responsive civic platform aimed at facilitating access to important documents, data, and online applications.
Some of the notable new and improved features include:
- A redesigned layout featuring icon buttons for frequently accessed pages
- An AI-driven chatbot to assist users
- An enhanced document search tool for easier navigation
- Self-service portals for payments and various online services
- A modernized graphic design with refreshed colors, symbols, and navigation buttons
- Accessibility tools, such as AudioEye and DocAccess, to assist with converting documents and ensuring compatibility with screen readers
According to County Chief Technology Officer Kim Albright, the new content management system is designed to support staff in delivering information more effectively. “This system allows us to manage content more efficiently, enhance the user experience, and ensure that our website continually meets the needs of our community,” she explained.

In conclusion, the revamped Maui County website represents a significant step forward in providing accessible digital services to the community. With user-friendly features and enhanced navigation, it is expected to improve how residents interact with county services and resources, reinforcing the county’s commitment to effective communication and community support.
