For those following the developments around Patis Bakery, this update aims to clarify the current status of their kosher certification. Elan Kornblum of GKR provided insights from Patis’s new ownership regarding recent changes in their certification process, assuring that the stores are still maintaining kosher standards.
Updates in Certification
Over the past year, Patis operated under a dual certification system, recognized by both the OU and Rabbi Yechiel Babad of Tartikov. However, the new ownership has decided that retaining both certifications is unnecessary. As a result, they have amicably severed ties with the OU, which means OU is no longer certifying the retail outlets.
Nevertheless, the OU has not completely removed itself from the equation. It continues to oversee the Patis commissary located in Passaic, NJ, in conjunction with Tartikov supervision.

Current Certifications
Looking ahead, the primary kosher certification for Patis locations is now under the supervision of the Tartikov Rav (Rabbi Yechiel Babad). There are a couple of additional certifications based on specific locations:
- The 5 Towns location is certified by the Vaad of the Five Towns.
- The Teaneck location will retain certification from the RCBC.
All locations adhere to cholov yisroel standards, and all flour used is Yoshon. Read about the hashgacha certificate here.
