Exciting New Camera Equipment
Recently, I had an unforgettable experience at a camera store. When I held the stunning Canon 70D, I realized it was the camera I needed to own.
While my Canon 60D was a fantastic camera, it lacked the ability to autofocus during video recordings. This was the main reason I was drawn to the 70D; the significant upgrade in autofocus for both video and live-view modes is remarkable. The 70D boasts a superior ISO range, a touchscreen interface, and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with other enhancements that I am still discovering. Technology evolves at a breathtaking pace, and although the 70D wasn’t the latest model, I elected to make the purchase without waiting for its successor. I sold my 60D to a family member, which was bittersweet after all we shared. However, knowing it’s in good hands eases the transition, and I’m sure we’ll have opportunities to meet again.
Since I rarely used the kit lenses, I opted to purchase just the camera body, saving funds for a higher-quality lens in the future. Although I have only been using the 70D for a week, I am already in love with it. This week, it will be put to the ultimate test as I film a new video.
Another exciting addition to my collection is the Canon 40mm f/2.8, affectionately known as the “pancake” lens. This lens had been on my wishlist since last year, and my husband surprised me with it as an early Christmas gift, making it a delightful addition to my camera gear. I know it sounds strange, but I can’t help but call a camera lens cute—just look at it! Similar to my “nifty fifty,” it is a prime lens, meaning it does not zoom, and you must move physically closer or farther from your subject. I love how compact and versatile this lens is, which should make it perfect for travel. While I haven’t explored its capabilities in depth yet, I’m eager to learn more about it in the coming weeks!
Looking Ahead
With my new camera and lens, I’m excited about the creative possibilities that lie ahead. The journey of learning and experimentation is just beginning!
