Discovering Fitness: The Atlanta Beltline Free Fitness Program

Explore how a community-focused initiative is motivating residents to engage in healthier lifestyles and make lasting connections.

The Atlanta Beltline is excited to announce the launch of its 2026 Free Fitness Program, featuring an expanded array of classes designed to foster a sense of community and promote movement. This year, the program aims to bring residents together with hundreds of free classes along the scenic trail, connecting fitness enthusiasts of all levels.

As the mainline trail gains popularity, with trail visits hitting 2.5 million in 2025, the Free Fitness Program is evolving, accommodating participants at every stage of their wellness journey—from those just starting with short walks to athletes training for races. The Beltline invites everyone to join, regardless of fitness experience, simply by registering for classes at beltline.org/fitness.

“We’re immensely proud of the Free Fitness Program,” said Rob Brawner, Executive Director of the Atlanta Beltline Partnership. “It not only makes fitness accessible but does so in a way that invites all community members, regardless of their starting point.” This initiative thrives thanks to the generosity of sponsors and partnerships within the community.

Exploring Diverse Class Offerings

The Beltline’s Free Fitness Program includes a wide variety of classes, from yoga and dance fitness to strength training, Pilates, and specialized classes for seniors and children. Classes are held outdoors at various locations along the trail and in nearby parks. You can view the complete class schedule at beltline.org.

Support for this program comes from various organizations, including the Atlanta Falcons Youth Fund, Delta, Northside Hospital, and Ponce City Market, among others. To continue offering these programs at no cost, consider supporting them at beltline.org/donate.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The Atlanta Beltline is dedicated to instilling a love for fitness in children. Youth fitness classes provide an engaging environment for kids to develop healthy habits. Offerings include family-friendly playdates for children aged 2–12, as well as the Learn 2 Ride Bike Club, which empowers young riders and their families.

Additionally, the Beltline champions Kilometer Kids, a free running program by the Atlanta Track Club aimed at encouraging physical activity and community-building among students in grades K–5.

More Ways to Be Active on the Beltline

Beyond traditional fitness classes, the Beltline offers various interactive programs to promote active lifestyles. The Walk with a Doc event pairs health discussions with leisurely walks, making healthcare advice more accessible in a relaxed setting. This program takes place across three locations along the Beltline.

Every Thursday, the Beltline hosts a Run Club in collaboration with the Atlanta Track Club. Participants of all abilities can enjoy 2- and 4-mile group runs, putting a social twist on staying active. For additional details about the club, visit beltline.org/runclub.

For cycling enthusiasts, the Big Tigger’s Beltline BikeFest merges fitness with fun, offering community rides along with music, vendor markets, and health checks, along with bike and helmet giveaways for local students.

For those wishing to explore at their own pace, guided bike tours are available on select Saturdays throughout spring and summer, allowing participants to discover Beltline art, history, and neighborhoods. Visit beltline.org to secure your spot.
