RISE EARLY

Waking up early offers numerous benefits. You gain precious moments for yourself, avoid the rush, and can accomplish tasks before the day fully begins. One of my favorite aspects of early mornings is the serene atmosphere and the opportunity to enjoy a cup of tea or lemon water while watching the sunrise. Mornings tend to be my most productive time, allowing me to write, edit, or plan my day ahead. A common trait among successful figures—be they entrepreneurs, authors, or motivational speakers—is that they all rise early each day. If you’re eager to embrace mornings, consider this post.

SET YOUR INTENTIONS FOR THE DAY

What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? If your instinct is to grab your phone, try a different approach: once you awaken, take a few deep breaths while still in bed and affirm, today is going to be an amazing day. Promise yourself kindness and positivity. Have you ever noticed that a minor mishap in the morning or waking up in a foul mood can turn your entire day sour? This happens because negative thoughts set a stressful tone for your day. Imagine instead setting strong, positive intentions right from the start!

A gentle morning mindset sets the foundation for a better day. If your alarm is on your phone, opt for soothing music to wake you up rather than an irritating ringtone. You might also consider using an uplifting affirmation as your phone’s wallpaper. For more guidance on setting powerful intentions, explore this insightful article by Dr. Deepak Chopra.

How to Practice Gratitude on Daily Basis

START YOUR DAY ON THE RIGHT FOOT

Literally, the first step counts! I adopted this practice from Gabby Bernstein in her book Miracles Now, which introduces a Kundalini technique of stepping out of bed with your dominant foot first. It may sound quirky, but I find it enhances my morning routine. As I walk to the bathroom, I repeat “Thank you, thank you” with every step.

GENTLE STRETCH

If you can squeeze in a workout before heading out, that’s fantastic! If time is limited, be sure to incorporate a few gentle stretches to wake up your body and energize yourself for the day ahead. Practice a Sun Salutation and take some deep breaths to alleviate stress and prepare both your mind and body for what lies ahead.

HOT WATER WITH LEMON

Kick off your day with a glass of warm water mixed with fresh, organic lemon. I have been doing this for as long as I can remember, and it signals my body that a new day has begun. Lemon helps detoxify your system, strengthens your immune response, and enhances digestion—especially effective against bloating. If lemon isn’t your favorite taste, consider adding a bit of honey or ginger. I often drink up to a liter of water on an empty stomach as my first step of hydration after a long night without fluids. Keeping a jug of water by your bedside makes it easy to replenish those lost fluids first thing in the morning.

GRATITUDE JOURNAL

This practice is transformative and often mentioned for a good reason. Many times, we dwell on what we lack or fear—failure, sickness, loneliness. How rarely do we take time to appreciate what we have? Each day holds the potential for greatness without needing extraordinary events to validate it.

When you reflect on your life—your health, relationships, and even basic conveniences like water and electricity—you’ll realize there’s plenty to be grateful for. Remember, the path to attracting more positivity lies in appreciating what you already possess. Start a gratitude journal, listing ten things you’re thankful for each day. You can do this before leaving for work or during your commute. Commit to this practice for 30 days and witness the positive shift in your life.

DO WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD

The beauty of waking up early lies in the time available to engage in activities that bring you joy. Even a mere 10 minutes dedicated to what you love can be invigorating before you embark on your day. Whether it’s immersing yourself in a good book, listening to an audiobook (my go-to while I get ready), reading your favorite blog, writing, or simply taking a walk with your dog, find what brings you happiness each morning.

Imagine savoring your morning tea or coffee at your leisure instead of rushing out the door. Wouldn’t that be wonderful?
