Social Media Influence Among Political Figures
While their policies might polarize the populace, the President’s team excels as influencers on social media.
They’re often found in the gym or the locker room, proving that state affairs won’t interfere with their fitness routines.
- ► FBI Director Kash Patel recently celebrated the U.S. men’s hockey team’s gold medal win with a beer in the locker room, showcasing the blend of work and play on government flights.
- ► Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently gained attention with a workout video where he exercises shirtless in jeans alongside entertainer Kid Rock, followed by a hot tub session with whole milk.
- Kennedy praised Kid Rock for abandoning his previous lifestyle to embrace healthier choices, as reported in his Fox News interview.
- In a candid moment, Kennedy discussed his past struggles with addiction during a podcast with Theo Von, revealing, “I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats,” emphasizing his daring attitude toward COVID-19.
- This month, Kennedy partnered with Mike Tyson—who has a checkered past, including serving time for rape in the 1990s—in a PSA advocating for weight loss through consuming “real food.”
- ► Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has showcased his fitness journey by posting videos of himself bench-pressing impressive weights, currently maxing out at 315 pounds, despite previous critiques of his exercise form.
- As the leader of U.S. military preparedness, Hegseth still finds time for lighthearted moments, although he pledged to abstain from alcohol while in office due to controversies surrounding his past.
- For these middle-aged politicians, projecting an image of camaraderie and fitness is crucial in their online presentation.
- Social media strategy remains integral to the Trump administration’s public relations efforts, with highly-produced videos from the Department of Homeland Security furthering their agenda.
Secretary Kristi Noem’s visuals portray her as a central figure in immigration enforcement, while other Trump administration officials emphasize their physical readiness for service.
► Vice President JD Vance shared photos of himself participating in a beach workout with Navy SEALs, showcasing tasks like climbing ropes and jogging.

At the top is President Donald Trump, known for his locker room talk. However, he maintains a no-drinking policy and is often dismissive of the concept of exercise, so don’t expect any workout videos or beer celebrations from him. Instead, his campaign benefactor Elon Musk shared an AI-generated clip of Trump playing hockey against Canadian players.
Trump congratulated Patel’s team after their overtime win and extended an invitation for them to attend the upcoming State of the Union Address.
He pledged to ensure the hockey players’ presence in Washington, even considering sending a military aircraft if necessary.
However, he noted he must also invite the women’s team, who also secured a thrilling overtime win against Canada, or risk political backlash.
The President has frequently addressed the need to protect women’s sports from what he perceives as threats from transgender athletes, making his mention of the victorious women’s team seem somewhat disjointed.
The women’s team expressed gratitude for the invitation but declined, citing prior academic and professional obligations on Monday.
House Speaker Mike Johnson indicated that arrangements would be made for accommodating the hockey players at the address, as Politico reported. The annual speech traditionally draws a crowded audience in the House chamber.

The video featuring Patel showcases him celebrating the hockey team’s victory, but he, like Hegseth, is also implementing new health standards at the FBI, encouraging agents to adopt a more police-like mentality that includes physical fitness, like performing pull-ups.
“If you want to chase down a suspect and detain them, you must be able to do a pull-up,” Patel stated during a congressional hearing.
Patel has also shared workout footage, including attempts at a challenge set forth by Kennedy and Hegseth for participants to complete 50 pull-ups and 100 push-ups in under 10 minutes, which he highlighted on his official X account.
In a landscape where social media presence greatly influences public perception, these political figures are striving to project a relatable image through fitness and camaraderie. Their antics, both serious and light-hearted, contribute to their narratives as they navigate a politically charged environment.
