<p>Customers at Empire Kosher Supermarket in Crown Heights will notice a minor change during checkout soon.</p>
<p>In a recent notice displayed in the store, Empire Kosher revealed that starting from February 17, 2026, cash transactions will undergo rounding to the nearest five cents due to the continuing national coin shortage.</p>
<p>With the new policy in place, cash totals will be rounded to the nearest $0.05. Amounts ending in .01, .02, .06, or .07 will be rounded down, while those ending in .03, .04, .08, or .09 will be rounded up.</p>
