Join the 105-Mile Challenge: A Fitness Initiative with Heart
The YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South has launched an exciting new event aimed at promoting fitness while supporting a noble cause. In collaboration with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the YMCA invites community members to participate in the 105-Mile Challenge, a six-week fitness and fundraising campaign aimed at assisting children battling cancer and other serious illnesses.
What is the 105-Mile Challenge?
Kicking off this Monday, the 105-Mile Challenge encourages participants to collectively cover the distance of 105 miles—representing the route from the Fogelman Downtown YMCA, around various YMCA locations in Memphis, and back to the St. Jude campus.
How to Participate
Participants have the flexibility to choose their preferred activity. Whether you enjoy walking, running, biking, or swimming, you can log miles at your local YMCA. Additionally, you can also take part in group exercise classes to help meet your mileage goal. The YMCA encourages members to make the journey together, promoting teamwork and a sense of community.
Fundraising for a Cause
In addition to the physical challenge, participants are encouraged to make a donation of $105. This contribution will support essential cancer research and assist in covering expenses for patients and their families. As Brian McLaughlin, the President & CEO of YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South, states, “This partnership reflects the heart of the YMCA’s mission; strengthening community through health, wellness, and social responsibility. By joining forces with St. Jude, we are turning healthy habits into hope for families who need it most.”
Conclusion
Participating in the 105-Mile Challenge is not just about personal fitness; it’s also about making a positive impact in the community.
