Long Weekend Essentials: What You Need to Pack – THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

As Memorial Day weekend approaches, many of us are preparing for a much-needed break. Whether you’re planning a trip out of town or opting for a staycation, this long weekend is a chance to unwind and enjoy some leisure time.

This year, I’m keeping things relaxed, choosing to stay at home rather than travel. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t make the most of my time off. I have some enjoyable plans lined up and a few essentials that I just can’t do without this weekend.

INSTANT CAMERA

Instant cameras hold a special spot in both my travel bag and on my coffee table. Like so many, I have countless digital photos stored away, with nearly a thousand yet to be printed. These days, most of us capture moments with our phones, and those images often remain unseen and unorganized.

While technology aims to simplify our lives, I sometimes find myself longing for the excitement of traditional photography. The thrill of developing film and eagerly anticipating envelopes filled with photos was a joy that today’s digital world doesn’t quite replicate.

This brings me to my beloved instant camera! It’s perfect for capturing memories whether you’re hosting a cookout or enjoying a tranquil weekend at home. Instant photos make it easy to appreciate even the simplest moments. Plus, kids love using them, which adds to the fun of the occasion.

CLINICAL STRENGTH PROTECTION

With recent temperatures reaching the mid-90s, I’m reminded of the need for reliable protection against the heat. I often find myself chilled, but even I can acknowledge that it’s becoming noticeably warmer, and quickly!

This brings me to one of my most crucial essentials for the weekend: a dependable deodorant. Whether you’re relaxing at home or embarking on an adventure, having effective antiperspirant is essential.

What I appreciate about Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid and Secret Clinical Strength Clear Gel is that they offer double the sweat protection compared to regular products, allowing me to wear any color or fabric without concern. Say goodbye to unsightly perspiration stains!

Being an introvert, I also find comfort in knowing I have reliable protection during summer gatherings like cookouts and parties. While these events can be enjoyable, they can also create some anxiety, particularly when it comes to meeting new people and socializing.

With the warmth and humidity, I’d rather not worry about unexpected sweat or wardrobe mishaps. Since I’ve been using Secret for as long as I can remember, I’m thrilled to highlight it in my journey as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™!

A GOOD READ

Barbecues, family gatherings, beach trips, and more — these activities can be delightful! However, amidst the excitement, I always set aside time solely for myself to dive into a good book. If there’s one thing I wish I had more hours for, it’s reading. A quiet evening with a captivating novel is a perfect way to relax and recharge. If you’re traveling, audiobooks are a fantastic alternative that can entertain you, especially in heavy weekend traffic.

I’ve been making an effort to step back from screens on weekends, allowing me to finish many books that had long sat on my nightstand. At the moment, I’m reading White Hot Truth and have a few others lined up on my *long weekend reads* list.

Additionally, I pack essentials like a good sunscreen (remember to apply it whether it’s sunny or cloudy!), blotting papers, beauty miniatures, and my favorite sunglasses.

What are your plans for the upcoming weekend? What are your must-haves for a long weekend?
