There are generally two types of individuals: those who thrive in social settings and those who draw energy from solitude. Some of us, however, fall somewhere in between. Personally, I have always identified as an introvert, but I now see myself more as an extroverted introvert—finding joy in my own company without constantly craving social interaction.

During a difficult phase in my life, I turned to blogging as a means of coping with depression. I was managing the pressures of school, full-time work, and a fiancé who was constantly busy with his business. Meanwhile, my family had moved out of town, leaving me feeling isolated.

Despite being surrounded by people, loneliness was ever-present. It wasn’t until my husband urged me to find a hobby that I made the leap to discover new interests. Initially, I felt inadequate and couldn’t think of anything I might excel at. However, I soon found joy in beauty and skincare, which ultimately led me to create this blog.

As I learned about photography and writing, I realized I could immerse myself in activities that I loved. Suddenly, my perspective on solitude shifted; I was no longer plagued by loneliness, but excited by the new passions I was cultivating. Hobbies not only fill our time but can help us embrace and enjoy our own company.

Many confuse solitude with loneliness. I once felt apprehensive about being alone, but embracing solitude has transformed my experiences. I now find excitement in having time to myself, even welcoming the gaps in my social calendar.

Life often requires us to pause, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves amidst the busyness. Silence and solitude can be reliable companions during these moments. Embrace them.
