At the Villa of Reduced Circumstances, we continue to navigate challenging times. Yet, both the CEO (that’s me) and the Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Felines (also me when chatting with neighborhood cats) are united in our belief that we can contribute $5 to Naked Capitalism.

Aloha Yves,
Recently, after falling behind in my reading once again, I dove into a binge of Naked Capitalism and realized that it’s time for the annual fund drive.
Feeling the urge to enhance my contribution to NC, I clicked on the “SOS ‘Double Your Donations’ Challenge.”
And there he was—a cat who reminded me of the late Earl Gray, complete with a pink nose. During his time, I could never truly say “no” to “The Earl.” How could I reject him now? Could it be that “The Earl” is guiding me towards a $100 donation, possibly doubling it?
Honestly, I’m not sure, but why not give it a shot? I noticed the posting date, and the chances for that opportunity—and others—might have slipped away by now.
But what the heck? Although I’m not rolling in riches, I’m fortunate enough to be able to donate a bit more without pain or regret (definitely without regret!). NC has instilled a sense of gratitude in me for my pension (yes!!!)—a modest but reliable (so far) state government pension. Plus, it’s worth noting that my fund is not managed by CALPERS. (Despite its flaws, our pension fund’s administration has its advantages over CALPERS.)
So why wait for someone else’s generosity to inspire my own? I can double my efforts on my own. A check for $200 is already on its way.
I’m thankful for the wealth of knowledge I gain from NC, thanks to its tireless, dedicated team, various content contributors, guest writers, and engaged commenters. I also cherish the lighter moments found in the Antidotes section at the top of the links. Who could handle the news without those delightful breaks?
In honor of all the petunia-adorned cockatiels, rock-juggling otters, sweet-corn munching porcupines, pumpkin-crunching capybaras, and, of course, Lambert’s cat (is he still around?), not to mention the countless other sources of smiles and laughter, including the fond memories of Blaine, Gabriel, and, personally, Earl Gray, I am pleased to announce my $200 donation to the annual fund drive for 2023.
Mahalo for everything you all do,
Cathy
P.S. Once again, I failed to send my pledged amount for last year’s fund drive. I sincerely apologize for that. Enclosed are two checks: one for $50 for the 2022 fund drive and another for $200 for the current drive.
I’ve been a loyal reader for a long time, and I find myself in a decent financial spot these days. So, it feels like the right time to donate. I mailed a check for $200 this afternoon. Being in the Northeast, it should reach the PO box quickly.
Thank you once more to you and all the writers for your hard work. My schedule has been hectic this past year, but I intend to start commenting more frequently in the coming months.
Best wishes, and keep up the excellent work. Go get ’em!
