Thank you for your steadfast support; we’ve successfully met our initial objectives: funding essential IT infrastructure and maintaining our comments section. Our tech guru Dave, along with our dedicated comment moderators katiebird and semper loquitur, are truly grateful for your recognition of their critical roles in keeping our platform thriving.
This year, we’ve set our sights on a new goal: funding the Coffee Break feature. While some may reminisce about Lambert’s unique wit and diverse interests—from gardening to permaculture—many readers have expressed their appreciation for the engaging range of topics covered by our new Coffee Break writers. If you share our enthusiasm for their contributions, please consider showing your support through our Tip Jar.
Thanks to your impressive response, we’re already at $5,055 towards this goal! We’ve reached 411 donors and are making steady progress toward our target of 1,100 supporters.

While finding a replacement for Lambert was challenging, we are fortunate to have gathered several talented writers. Organizing this transition wasn’t easy, but we are now thrilled to offer five exciting new features.
Among them is Haig Hoveaness’ Armed Madhouse, which delves into the murky aspects of military enterprise—highlighting what works (bribery, drones, entertainment-driven indoctrination) alongside what falls short (laser weapons). Nat Wilson Turner was ahead of the curve, covering the NYC primary long before it gained major media attention, while also scrutinizing the agendas of influential tech leaders like Larry Ellison and Alex Karp, and examining how influencer politics and the situation in Gaza are reshaping traditional political alliances. Curro Jimenez has analyzed the repercussions of Israel’s actions against Qatar for the Gulf States, the decline of Europe’s welfare state, and how Latin America serves as a testing ground for America’s envisioned new world order. Additionally, Haig provides essential links every Sunday.
Our journey through this period of transition was not possible without reader support. Despite Lambert’s generous notice of his departure, his exit still posed a significant challenge, given his substantial contribution to our content and site operations. Conor and Nick offered to fill in his regular slots, but we needed additional support to ensure coverage in case unexpected challenges arose.
This led me to ponder: could I recruit enough exceptional writers to facilitate a new feature, Coffee Break, alongside an already established Water Cooler? Furthermore, could we generate sufficient funds to sustain this expanded content? It’s worth noting that Lambert independently raised funds for Water Cooler, meaning Naked Capitalism’s funding didn’t include that particular feature.
When I reached out for new contributors, I was heartened by the flood of responses from high-caliber candidates. This speaks volumes about our community—many talented writers were eager to engage with such an active audience.
KLG bravely took on a weekly slot in addition to his regular bi-weekly article, which is quite a commitment alongside his demanding day job. Our moderator semper loquitur kindly stepped in to provide a Sunday movie feature.
However, we faced the task of screening and selecting from numerous new candidates, which we had to do twice before being fortunate enough to enlist Nat Wilson Turner and Curro Jimenez.
In summary, while we now have a strong team in place, the journey to reach this point involved significant uncertainty and effort.
We invite those who supported Water Cooler, along with those who enjoy our new Coffee Break and Sunday movie features, to contribute to these exciting new in-depth stories. We now have five talented individuals—including semper loquitur—bringing their wealth of experience to our expanding topics. They have expressed gratitude for the meaningful engagement with readers, which continually motivates them to produce exceptional articles. This dynamic illustrates how our community fosters a virtuous circle, where rigorous information and reasoning stimulate writers to create even more insightful content.
Please join us in celebrating their arrival by ensuring Curro is well stocked with cigars by visiting the donation page and contributing generously!

I’m sending more this year because you should receive what I’m no longer sending to Lambert, plus a bit more for the new writers you’ve recruited. I thoroughly enjoy reading them all. Thank you for keeping us informed, even amidst today’s grim global situation. We appreciate the many intriguing articles on topics we might never have discovered without Naked Capitalism. We frequently share articles with friends, and several of them have started reading NC, too. It seems everyone is eager to stay well-informed these days.
And from Ben Panga:

Bravo, Nat! I’ve been anticipating your analysis, sensed its buildup in your tweets, and I was not disappointed. What a masterful post. Thanks for adding your perspective to Naked Capitalism.
And from Tom:
I didn’t know this movie either. Just last week, I was unaware of that feature, but now I am, thanks to NC’s fantastic Sunday Morning Movie and semper loquitur. If you haven’t contributed to the fundraiser yet, go do it now!
And from steve k:
Thank you for the incredible work and for bringing in this fresh batch of writers.
