An Energetic Fit Class to Celebrate Winter Week
Physical fitness is an integral part of a balanced lifestyle, and it doesn’t have to be dull. On January 30th, Happy Hollow’s third-grade teacher and SHiNE dance fitness instructor, Allison Cohen, brought excitement to the gym as she led a vibrant fitness class for high school freshmen, sophomores, and seniors in the field house. This engaging 45-minute session was one of the highlights of Winter Week, allowing students to shake off their winter blues while enjoying a fun and energizing workout.
During the class, participants followed Cohen’s lead, moving to the rhythm and working up a sweat. The atmosphere was electric, with students immersing themselves in dance movements that not only encouraged fitness but also fostered camaraderie. According to senior Jayden Newland, “Seeing everyone dancing out there, having fun, it’s really enjoyable.” This kind of energetic participation showcases how fitness can be a source of joy and community.

The excitement continued after the fitness class, as many students flocked to the field house to enjoy the Window Dance Ensemble, which wrapped up the week’s winter festivities. This event not only highlighted the importance of physical activity but also illustrated how fitness can be woven into social occasions, making it more enjoyable.
