The Anaheim Ducks have made a significant move by signing Tristan Luneau, selected in the second round of the 2022 NHL Draft, to a long-term contract. General Manager Pat Verbeek emphasized that adding Luneau was a priority, viewing him as a future top-four defenseman. With four regular defensemen lost from last season, Luneau is set to make his NHL debut this season.
Coach Dave Manson praised Luneau’s potential, highlighting his ability to log substantial ice time and contribute offensively and defensively. Last season, Luneau accumulated 41 points in 70 games with the Ducks’ AHL affiliate and made an impactful appearance in his lone NHL game.
The Ducks have also secured other young talents, including Leo Carlsson and Pavel Mintyukov, with long-term contracts, reflecting their strategy to build a strong core. The team’s season opener is scheduled against the Vegas Golden Knights.
