Owasso Adds Animal Microchip Checking Stations
Owasso, Oklahoma, has introduced two new animal microchip checking stations thanks to a donation from the Best Friends Animal Society. These stations are designed to help lost pets reunite with their owners, reducing the number of lost animals that end up in the Owasso Animal Shelter.
Brandon Hemsoth, an Animal Control Officer, demonstrated the station’s functionality at the Owasso Police Department. Users can easily scan a found pet for a microchip by following simple instructions displayed on the station.
Local pet owner Connie King expressed her support for the initiative, noting that it offers peace of mind for pet owners who worry about losing their furry friends. The second microchip checking station is located at the Owasso Fire Department, ensuring that these resources are accessible for everyone.
Both stations are available 24/7, and the city encourages all pet owners to microchip their pets and keep their contact information up to date. This initiative aims to streamline the process of reuniting lost pets with their families.
