Vance aims at Peltola while promoting energy initiatives at Alaska rally.

Vice President JD Vance visited Alaska to bolster Republican support ahead of the midterm elections. Speaking to a crowd at Fairbanks International Airport, he announced a $400 million investment in the Alaska Rail Belt Transmission Project, with $150 million funded by the federal government. This project aims to improve Alaska’s energy grid reliability.

During the rally, Senator Dan Sullivan criticized Democratic opponent Mary Peltola’s approach to energy policy and downplayed the effects of the ongoing Iran conflict on fuel prices. Throughout the event, speakers including Vance and Rep. Nick Begich criticized Peltola’s record in Congress, attacking her for perceived inaction and management style.

Recent polling suggests a competitive Senate race, prompting speculation on potential campaign visits from former President Trump, who previously won Alaska by a significant margin.
