THE FINALS Prepares for a New Era on October 20
Embark Studios has announced significant updates for THE FINALS, which will evolve as the multiplayer shooter approaches its third anniversary. This update is set to launch on October 20.
In a blog post by executive producer Christian Aarsrud, the studio emphasized a shift from seasonal updates to a year-long focus on enhancing the existing game experience. Aarsrud shared:
“That longer runway allowed us to take on work that doesn’t fit inside a three-month cycle… the bulk of our energy went into deepening the experience as a whole.”

Environment Destruction Enhancements: Areas will experience more nuanced destruction, with elements like sagging floors and leaning walls contributing to varied gameplay dynamics.

Visual Improvements: Enhanced arena lighting and materials aim to bolster the game’s visual quality, while broader design changes will fine-tune arena gameplay.

Sponsor Integration: Embark will deepen player relationships with sponsors, moving beyond mere progression systems to integrate identity and personality. This includes reworking how Contestants and teams are introduced, as well as enhancing the overall game-show aesthetic.
