The La Crosse Center recently hosted an event to allow residents to safely surrender unwanted exotic animals. J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue accepted various species, including birds and snakes, without asking any questions. This initiative aims to discourage pet owners from releasing their exotic pets into the wild, which can disrupt local ecosystems. John Moyles, director of J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue, highlighted the lack of resources for aquatic and exotic animals compared to more common pets like dogs and cats. Animals surrendered during the event will be made available for adoption on the rescue’s website.
