Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary Secures New Permanent Location on the West Side of Green Bay

Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Green Bay is on the verge of securing a new permanent home at 838 S. Fisk St., a former funeral home. Joe Becker, the sanctuary’s Board President, expressed optimism about the building’s unique layout, which is conducive to the sanctuary’s needs, including a proposed space for a veterinarian in the former embalming room.

After their original location collapsed in June due to storm damage, founder Elizabeth Feldhausen emphasized the community’s support and the significance of having a lasting home for the sanctuary. While the sale is not yet finalized due to pending mortgage approval, recent zoning expansions facilitated the property’s eligibility for the sanctuary’s use.

Despite needing some renovations, including window replacements and new flooring, the sanctuary aims to open by December, celebrating its tenth anniversary. Community financial support, including a GoFundMe campaign, has been vital during this transition.
