Space Force Nominations
President Donald Trump has nominated two high-ranking officers to lead U.S. Space Command and the Navy. The nominations have been sent to the Senate for confirmation.
-
Lt. Gen. David Miller: Currently serving as the deputy chief of space operations for the Space Force, Miller has been nominated to become the commander of U.S. Space Command (SPACECOM), which oversees military operations in space. He previously led Space Operations Command.
-
Background: Miller has been acknowledged for his distinguished service in the Space Force. Gen. Douglas Schiess, the Space Force’s top officer, expressed his support for Miller, citing him as “an exceptional guardian” and a strong candidate for this leadership role.
-
Miller’s nomination comes as Gen. Stephen Whiting, the current SPACECOM commander, is set to retire amid increasing competition in space.
